Convocated

Just wanted to post a congratulations to Bry, who is now officially graduated with a BA from UBC!!!

For all those that couldn't be there, here's a short clip of her walking across the stage:

Katamari minivan

Bry and I have been amused by this for weeks. This van (below) is parked on my block, and it seems to be growing all the time. Bry suspects the owner may have obsessive-compulsive disorder, and I think he may be a garbage collector trying to resell discarded treasure he finds. Or perhaps it is a combination of the two.

Anyway, this mini-van has been packed with junk for as long as I can remember seeing it in my neighbourhood. And by junk, I mean the interior looks so packed, you’d assume someone was trying to move the contents of their apartment in it. Only the driver’s seat is open; every square inch elsewhere has been crammed with boxes, carpets, paper and so on. But like anything else unusual, the more you see it the more you are desensitized to it. Such is the case for the mini-van, which I came to no longer take notice of, until recently, when a cage appeared on top of it. A big, white cage, which was strapped down and added another 4 feet of height to the vehicle.

Since its appearance on the outside of the van, more items have been added. First a coffee table appeared in the cage. Then 3 “worms” used for swimming. The cage wasn’t big enough, though, for the addition of the treadmill or the lawnmower, so these simply jut out over the back of the roof. The extensive collection of accumulated miscellanea is somewhat reminiscent of the rolling ball from Katamari Damacy.

Behold! ...
